This arrangement is made by my mother and I only chose the sunflower to use it. We used more sunflower than one which made last year, so more gorgeous looked. The leaves are almost cut, because we would like to enjoy them for a longer time.
2003 year
This year, I tried to make better sunflower arrangement. This is my second arrangement, and more gorgeous than one which made last year. Around sunflower, I add flowers like morning glory in my garden. So more looking beautiful by various colors added.
Way to enjoy cut flowers for a long time
The cause that cut flowers weaken is the lack of water which happened at a pore in surface of leaf and stuffing in the trachea by propagation of bacteria. These two are major problem for the cut flowers without root. So the point solving is larking here. The other word, we can enjoy them for a longer time if the lack of water and stuffing with the bacteria in the trachea are suppressed to a minimum!
Seven ways to enjoy it for a longer time
Wet the surface of leaf with sprayer. Since the leaf is wet, the mouse of pore would shut and the evaporation of water will be suppressed. Be careful not to wet the petals. Cut the stem with a sharp scissor. This is to suppress the damage of the trachea. So we must cut the stem clean and make it absorb normally. Also to cut the stem diagonally is good, because the area to absorb is be larger. These ways can have long enjoying time, and delay the withering time..©If you cut the stem under the water, you can totally suppress the air coming in the trachea.
Put the vase as cool place as possible. The cut flowers will wither soon if they are at the place gets a lot of sunshine or the warm room at noon. So be careful about the place to put the vase. Learn to make a loose arrangement. If you put too many sunflowers in the vase, the bacteria will propagate many times. Change the water in the vase everyday. If you forget changing the water, the bacteria will increase rapidly and it will lead stuffing in the trachea. Cut the leaves. First cut the leaves in the vase. If you do not this, you are going to soil the water and the propagation of the bacteria quicken. And big leaves should be cut because bigger leaf evaporates more. Fewer leaves and less evaporation will bring sunflowers long life. Use the five to seven blooming not full one. Full blooming sunflower has already had bigger seeds, and the weight leads short life. So you should choose the five to seven blooming sunflower.
